Bifröst

Bifrost in Norwegian mythologie, a bridge (as rainbow)
between Midgard (earth) and Asgard (heaven).
The Gods where using the bridge to meet eachother
under the life tree yggdrasil.
The bridge ends in heaven at Himinbjörg.

Himinbjörg is the residence of the God Heimdallr,
who gards it from the (giant) Jötnar.

Muspell is a realm of fire, one of the nine worlds.
Jötunn Sutr (the lord of Muspellheim) and Simmara
(a female figure) usually considered a consort to the fire.

The bridge destruction at Ragnarök (a serie of future events
to ultimately results in the death of a number of major
figures) by the forces of Muspell is foretold.

The meaning is various natural disasters and the subsequent
submersion of the world in water.
Afterwards the world will resurface anew and fertile,
the surviving and returning God will meet and the world will
be repopulated by two human survivers.
